This abstract painting Bhishma portrays the moment when Bhishma was not directly killed by Arjuna but was brought down with the help of Shikhandi during the Kurukshetra War. Having the boon to choose his time of death, Bhishma refused to fight Shikhandi. Following Krishna’s guidance, Arjuna shot arrows at Bhishma, wounding him severely. He fell onto a bed of arrows and waited for an auspicious moment to depart.
