Badri Narayan
Badri Narayan (1929-2013) was an influential Indian painter, illustrator, and author known for his distinctive narrative style and whimsical subject matter. Born in Secunderabad, Narayan was largely self-taught, with a background in literature and mythology that heavily influenced his artistic output. His paintings often depicted scenes from Indian epics, folklore, and everyday life, rendered with a childlike simplicity and vivid colors. Narayan’s works are characterized by their lyrical quality, detailed line work, and a sense of storytelling that invites viewers into a world of fantasy and nostalgia. He was also a prolific writer, contributing extensively to Indian art and literature. Narayan received several accolades throughout his career, including the Padma Shri in 1987.
