After enlightenment, Buddha met the Five Ascetics in Deer Park, Sarnath, introducing the Middle Way and Four Noble Truths. He taught the Eightfold Path for a balanced, mindful life. In the painting, Buddha sits under a circular tree in yellow robes with a halo, right hand in Varad Mudra, left resting on his leg. The five ascetics, in red, listen intently, highlighting Buddha’s compassion, wisdom, and the beginning of the Buddhist monastic community.
