Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. When demons Dushan and Ruru attacked Ujjain, Shiva appeared as Mahakala, defeating them and protecting the city. He manifested as the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, worshipped through unique rituals like the Bhasma Aarti. Devotees believe it grants liberation. During Maha Shivaratri, the temple sees grand celebrations honoring Shiva’s divine power.
