The Divine Trinity in Hinduism consists of Brahma (creator), Vishnu (preserver), and Shiva (destroyer). Brahma is credited with creating the universe, knowledge, and the Vedas. Described as self-born (Swayambhu) in a golden egg or emerging from Vishnu’s navel in a lotus, Brahma creates by uniting Prakriti and Purusha. Hindu texts describe two levels of creation—Sarga (primary) and Visarga (secondary), with Brahma responsible for Visarga, governed by cycles of creation and dissolution. One day of Brahma equals 4.32 billion human years. Currently, we are in the Kali Yuga of the 28th Mahayuga, 51st year of Brahma. Though once revered, Brahma’s worship declined after the 6th century CE, with only a few temples like Pushkar’s remaining today.
