The story of Krishna and Sandipani Muni highlights Krishna’s deep devotion to his guru and the sacred bond between a teacher and student. As a young boy, Krishna, along with Balarama, studied under Sage Sandipani Muni in Ujjain, mastering all scriptures and skills in just 64 days. Upon completing their education, they asked their guru for Guru Dakshina (a token of gratitude). Sandipani Muni, grieving the loss of his son who had drowned, requested Krishna to bring him back. Determined, Krishna and Balarama defeated the demon Panchajanya, traveled to Yamaloka (the realm of death), and convinced Yama, the god of death, to restore the boy’s life. Fulfilling their guru’s wish, Krishna demonstrated selfless devotion, respect, and duty, reinforcing the timeless value of honoring one’s teacher.
