Galleria VSB opened its door to the public about a decade ago. Since then, it has indeed been an enriching journey with art for me. Professionally, I am a Jewellery Designer, designing some rare pieces of jewellery for over two decades. My Signature Jewels are possessed by some of the best known names across the globe and I have exhibited my creations in over 20 countries earning widespread acclaim. Pursuing art has, however, been my hobby and I have deep interest in India’s rich culture, tradition and heritage. This has led me to collect different forms of art since from very early days. And, I had opened my art gallery – Galleria VSB with the basic objective to preserve and showcase my collections.

Located in the heart of Delhi, India’s capital city, at Square One Mall, Saket, Galleria VSB exemplifies the dynamic relationship between art and culture through art camps, workshops, exhibitions and other public programs. Professionally, I started curating for my Gallery about a decade ago with the adoption of museum collection of sculptures by Raghunath Mohapatra, the world famous Sculptor from Odisha, awardee of national honours, Padma Shree in 1975, Padma Bhushan in 2001 and Padma Vibhushan in 2013. Today, my Gallery houses paintings of different periods in varied textures, colour and style, on subjects ranging from folk to modern, bronze castings, handcrafted silver plates and filigree objects by traditional master craftsmen from across India. I am deeply involved in preserving these works of art.

My rare collections include some early Lithographs, Oleographs, Old Nathdwara Paintings, Mathura Art Paintings, Pattachitra, Tanjore Paintings and fascinating Old Calendar Art depicting Gods and Goddesses of all religions, Freedom Fighters and the innate beauty of a woman. Mesmerizing Sculptures housed in my Gallery in Ivory, Conch Shell, Silver, other metals and in different stones are a visual treat to the visitors.

During recent years, I have been engaged in promoting fast disappearing crafts like filigree and providing designing and marketing support to the master craftsmen. In this endeavoiur, I am joined by my daughter Swati Bhargava who is a NIFT, Delhi graduate in leather designing and my son Varun Bhargava who is a jewellery designer having graduated from the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery, Delhi. My Gallery organizes regular Art Camps which provide an opportunity to eminent artists from across India to display their ‘Passion in Silence’. In the exhibition, starting from 18th April, 2015, I bring to you some of the finest works produced by famous artists in the two camps organized at Manali in the lap of mountains during November, 2014 and at Konark Sun Temple, a World Heritage Site in Puri, Odisha, during April, 2014. The works include paintings by eminent artists including Dharmendra Rathore, Binoy Varghese, Pratul Dash, H.R. Das, Shovin Bhattacharjee, K.K. Gandhi, Ram Viranjan, Pradosh Swain, Anup Kumar Chand, Tapan Dash, Sachindranath Jha, Manish Pushkale, Vivek Sharma, Deepak Shinde, Yusuf, Suman Gupta, Ravindra Salve, R.B. Bhaskaran, Seema Kohli, Manash Ranjan Jena, V.S. Upadhyay, Vijender Sharma, Gopal Samantray, Vinod Sharma, Somenath Maity, Baladev Maharatha, Siba Panigrahi and Amitava Das.

It is my pleasure to invite you all to this exhibition and I am sure that you will find these works of art stimulating. Lastly but most importantly, I wish to thank all these artists who assigned their valuable time and energy for Galleria VSB despite their tight engagements to join my camps and for their contribution to the propagation of modern and contemporary art....

Best Wishes.

Vandana Bhargava
